  • 1.  140 Task Group Polls and JC Meeting: Save the Date

    Dear members and participants of the Joint Committee on Sustainable Carpet,

    The 2025 Joint Committee on Sustainable Carpet meeting is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, October 1, 2025, per unanimous vote in the poll. 

    The JC location is tentatively scheduled at NSF Headquarters in Ann Arbor, MI. If this poses difficulty or you suggest an alternative, we will keep the date open for alternate locations. A virtual option will be provided for those unable to travel. Once the JC Chair has finalized the location, a formal invitation will be sent out.

    If you are interested in participating in either of the Task Groups (TGs) listed below, please respond to the Doodle scheduling polls by Friday, March 14. Leads will be determined once TGs are convened.

    140 Sustainable Carpet TG on Section 8: Evaluate opportunities to encourage greater use of recycled/bio-based materials in product manufacturing. https://doodle.com/group-poll/participate/ax8RK4Ba

    140 Sustainable Carpet TG on Section 10: Consider new or alternative ways to increase product recycling and reuse at the end of product life cycles.https://doodle.com/group-poll/participate/bWpY3Nxd

    We have an additional call for volunteers for the following task groups. Anyone with a stake in each TG topic is encouraged to volunteer. We seek well-rounded participation within the JC; technical expertise is not required. Please email me (smccormick@nsf.org) if you are interested.

    • Task Group on PCRs and LCAs (Product Category Rules and Life Cycle Assessments): Evaluate opportunities to streamline LCA/EPD credit requirements consistent with PCR rules and current industry best practices.
    • Task Group on Section 6: Improve product composition disclosure requirements to align with industry best practices. Propose a new issue paper to eliminate the current temporary deviation.

    Hi Jonathan,

    Yes, anyone may participate in the Task Groups. No application is required; however, for any participants that are not yet observers (non-voters) with a login to the NOW, please have them fill out the NSF Participant Agreement (attached) and return it to me at smccormick@nsf.org. That will ensure they receive access to the NOW with invitations and communication for Task Group Meetings.

    The current leading times for each Task Group are;

    • TG on Section 8: Friday, March 21, at 2-3pm ET
    • TG on Section 10: Thursday, March 20, at 2-3pm ET
