Call for Task Group Membership

  • 1.  Call for Task Group Membership

    Posted 06-23-2025 12:30 PM

Good afternoon NSF/ANSI 305 members and observers.

    Hope this finds everyone well.

Although 305 was published earlier this year, it's been quite a while since we've had any meeting activity.

That's about to change however as we've just received two new issue papers (attached).

We've decided to engage two existing TGs in deliberation of these proposals, specifically Mined Minerals and Chemical Processes

Prior to setting up any meetings or sending out straw ballots, we are conducting a call for membership.

If you are interested in participating in either or both, let me know by 2:00pm eastern, July 7 after which I'll add you to the roster.

Below are links to each TG roster to check if you're already a member:

    Chemical processes: https://standards.nsf.org/higherlogic/ws/groups/513484f8-c401-4d5d-b485-018976f8b6a2/roster

    Mined minerals: https://standards.nsf.org/higherlogic/ws/groups/c08104a3-629d-4da1-99be-018976f95bd8/roster

    Hi Allan!

I'd like to participate in both. Also, can you confirm that I've been approved as the voting member representative for OTCO?

    Thank you,

    Hi David,
    Hope you are well.
I had the same questions.  If you log in to the NSF portal (which I did this morning), you will see the documents/issues posted and down-loadable for review.  I think all is there for us to review.

Right on and up to speed... ethylhexylglycerin is available from natural sources and EWG doesn think it's too bad https://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ingredients/702352-ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN/
    So I'm supportive

And then the mined mineral suggestion also makes sense but also would like to see the specific minerals at issue and make sure EWG doesn't see a problem

Thanks brother up to speed... looks like ethylhexylglycerin can be made from natural sources and EWG doesn't think is that bad.

And the mined minerals suggestion looks straightforward

    Allan,

I do not seem to have a list of the current task force members for Chemical Processing, so I cannot contact them dit=rectly.

Now that David Bronner and I have weighed in, what comes next?  Will you set up a meeting or a task force straw poll to move this along to the OPC Joint Committee for a vote?

As far as I recall, I am not a member of Curt's Mined Minerals TF, but I ould be wrong.

    Thanks,

    Dave Herbst

    David(Bronner)

After reading the issue paper, I agree with your position.

Thanks for the follow up Dave.

    Good questions.

Regarding mined minerals, you are indeed on the roster:

    https://standards.nsf.org/higherlogic/ws/groups/c08104a3-629d-4da1-99be-018976f95bd8/roster

Regarding the roster for Chemical Processing, below is a link to that as well as a spreadsheet attached:

    https://standards.nsf.org/higherlogic/ws/groups/513484f8-c401-4d5d-b485-018976f8b6a2/roster

Regarding next steps, I sent out a call for membership to the entire JC asking for participation interest by 2pm eastern July 7.

After this, my plan is to set up a teleconference for each in the weeks following, and execute a straw ballot for each issue paper to generate feedback and discussion points for each meeting.

In the meantime, the issue papers have been shared and feedback is encouraged but not required.

    Hope this makes sense.

Request to Join the Chemical Processes Technical Group

    Dear Allan Rose,

I hope this message finds you well.

Due to my heavy workload over the past few weeks, as well as the internet disruptions in our country, I was unfortunately unable to submit my request to join the Chemical Processes Technical Group before the deadline.

I remain very interested in contributing to the work of this Technical Group and would greatly appreciate it if you could still consider adding me to the Chemical Processes TG roster.

Thank you for your understanding and consideration. I look forward to your positive response and to contributing to the group's activities.

    Kind regards,

    Dr. Roya Noorbakhsh
