Hello Sustainable Carpet Joint Committee Members,

I am excited to introduce you to Shannon McCormick. Shannon will be stepping into the JC Secretariat role and help promote progress on our open items.

Shannon is a new Sustainability Standards Lead with a passion for conservation and quality control. They began their career in essential resource safety, working in wastewater and drinking water testing labs after graduating from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, focusing on Ecology and Evolution, and a minor in Philosophy. Shannon's expertise grew in food production and scientific materials manufacturing at Oregon Freeze Dry and Thermo Fisher Scientific, where she managed quality control testing and SOP document control. Her commitment to the health of people and the planet led her to dive into the world of organic certification, where she worked as a Technical Specialist and Certification Officer at OMRI and Oregon Tilth, reviewing organic input materials and auditing organic system plans for USDA NOP compliance.

Residing in the beautiful Eugene, Oregon area, Shannon enjoys the outdoors, whether it's camping, hiking, swimming, or gardening. They love spending time with their cat and houseplants, enjoying live music, playing ukelele, and volunteering at the local country fair every summer. Shannon joined NSF driven by their desire to make a meaningful impact on sustainability and public health standards. Shannon looks forward to meeting the joint committee volunteers and believes in the power of collective effort to create a sustainable future.

Please help me welcome Shannon. We look forward to working with you all in the coming weeks. I have included Shannon's detailed contact information below.

    Hi Jessica and Shannon,
It's great to hear that there will actions taken soon to move forward with open items and publish an overdue new version of the standard.  Over the past few years I have helped CRI to coordinate the carpet manufacturers in addressing position papers for revisions to the standard and trying to find common ground with issue papers submitted from other JC members.

I look forward to our next steps as a joint committee.

    Best regards,
    Troy
