Meeting the requirements of the WaterMark Certification Scheme (WMCS) indicates that a product meets a level of efficiency above that of other standards. Since 2009, NSF International Drinking Water Treatment Units, Plastics and Mechanical Plumbing programs have offered Certification to the WaterMark Certification Scheme, in addition to the traditional Certifications offered by the water programs within a limited geographic scope (US, Australia and China).
As a requirement for the WMCS to provide certification, the certifier must provide an assessment of the countries in which they seek to provide certification. At this time, NSF seeks to expand the scope in the following areas:
Canada;
Mexico;
Brazil, Chile, Peru;
Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark;
Austria;
Japan, Vietnam; and
New Zealand.
Quality and Compliance staff has completed assessments of the risks associated with the proposed expansion of scope, which is presented in a Risk Management Summary for each area. Expansion into these areas will serve to make the referenced water programs more relevant in an increasingly global atmosphere.
As members of the Certification Council, you are being asked to consider NSFs capability and impartiality to perform services in these countries. |
