On October 9, 2009 a ballot was passed by the JC to revise NSF/ANSI 177 by adding the reference to NSF/ANSI 330 and removing the definitions from the body of the standard. However, the ballot did not complete the final approval process with the CPHC. Additional work on the standard and review by the CPHC are currently underway, but due to the fact that the ANS will expire on its 10th anniversary date of September 3, 2014, the pending standard must be taken through the consensus process again (JC, TC, public comment, and CPHC). At this time, the only proposed changes to the original 2004 edition of the standard are an update of the normative references under section 2 (including the reference to NSF/ANSI 330), and the removal of the definitions under section 3. Any further recommendations by the DWTU and CPHC task groups to revise the standard will be presented to the JC in a separate ballot. |
