Purpose:
As opposed to specifying all of the variables that have an effect on the system flow capacity during this test, this proposal is to shift the focus of the test to the performance of the skimmer itself within the circulation loop. Specifically, the test criteria should be applied to the measurement of the head loss of a skimmer design within its intended flow range, when operating in both normal operation and in equalizer mode. This completely removes the influence of the pump type, pump speed, or plumbing design on the compliance of a skimmer design. By requiring and testing the accuracy of a manufacturer’s skimmer head loss claim, an end user or designer will be able to directly determine the effect on the system curve and flow rate should the water level drop low enough in the pool to actuate the equalizer line. |
