Purpose
The purpose of this ballot is to update section 9.5.3 skimmer cleanability to incorporate additional clarification to determine cleanability of interior exposed ridges.
Background
The current language does not clearly define where measurements should be taken when multiple reference points are available. For example, where radial ribs under a circular lid alternate tall and short. The short rib may allow access for cleaning where a taller ridge on the same ‘shape’ may not. The proposal also provides addition clarity for how to measure the ‘width’ of triangular and circular shaped ribs.
This issue was originally motioned to ballot at the 2013 Joint Committee meeting, but was never completed. It is thus being taken to ballot now to update NSF/ANSI 50 – 2016. The original issue paper (2011-16) with the recommendation to update the language in the section, as well as the subsequent issue paper (2013-19) to add the specific language to 9.5.3.1.3 (original section numbering was 8.5.3.1.3) are included in the reference documents of the ballot. |
