I believe this is a very good idea, from personal research experience with Al residuals from treatment chemicals. Aluminum fouling of limestone materials used for neutralizing beds in small water systems has been reported, thus assays of these materials definitely should have it. Also, because many coagulants are a mix of alum and polymer and aluminum is known to scale distribution system pipes, and premise plumbing, often causing detriment to C-factors, collecting this information could be very important in evaluating performance and scales of water distribution piping of all sizes. I believe that the estimates for concentration of aluminum in finished drinking water in the backgroud are generally lower than has often been observed in research of drinking water pipe scales and what the aluminum concentrations were in the finished water.
