I am fully in support of the addition of this organotin test method to NSF 61, but suggest the following editorial modifications for consistancy with other sections of the standard and clarity of test requirements:
1. Section N-1.7.4.1 covers general requirements for organics analysis, with subsequent sections in Section N-1.7.4 giving more specific requirements for various organics test methods. Therefore, rather than additng the requirements for organotin analysis to Section N-1.7.4.1, these requirements should be added in a new Section N-1.7.4.X: "Organotin Analysis) (Probably N-1.7.4.6, with existing sections moved down in order to maintain alphabetical order).
2. Table 3.1 and Table 3.2 provide the minimum test requirements for various material types, and currently direct testing just for "tin" for organotin containing materials. These tables should be updated to require organotin analysis instead of tin, (ie for PVC/CPVC, and PVC (flexible) in Table 3.1, and should add organotin to the list of analytes within the "Plastics materials not listed in Table 3.1" and "Other Materials not listed in Table 3.1..." sections within Table 3.2. The footnotes related to tin analysis Table 3.1 should be updated as well.
