We now know that the Vermont legislature has passed a new lead requirement for plumbing fixtures that is consistent with California's. The bill is waiting the governor's signature with no indication from our contact that the bill will be vetoed, which means Annex G will no longer be a single state standard.
In formulating this legislation, members of Vermont's Public Interest Research Group (PIRG) were made aware of the discussion and activities pertaining to California's low lead content standard within the NSF DWAJC. As noted by one of Craig Selover's comments in the last straw ballot regarding the inclusion of Annex G in NSF/ANSI Standard 61, Annex G will provide leadership toward unifying states under a single national low lead content standard.
