Current information regarding health effects of very low exposures to lead does not support classifying Annex G as a health standard. The LTG memo states that it is "difficult to discern true cause and effect" of very low lead exposure. In fact, no such cause and effect determination at very low levels has, at this point, been shown. The LTG writes "eliminating potential exposure to lead as a potential contributor to these health effects seems to be a health standard." NSF standards should be based on firmly supported information rather than "potentials" that lead to what "seems to be a health standard." Resources should be expended to accomplish real goals supported by solid information.
